I’m passionate about using data to create insights that drive real-world impact in ecology, conservation and agriculture. With over 20 years of experience spanning experimental design, statistical analysis, and cutting-edge AI applications, I find genuine excitement in the detective work of extracting stories from data.

My research centers on understanding and mitigating human impacts on the natural world, from developing precision agriculture tools that reduce environmental impacts to protecting endangered species like the mountain hare or the hazel dormouse. I’m fascinated by the intricate relationships between human activities and ecological systems, and how data science can help us navigate these complex interactions more sustainably.

As a lifelong naturalist and educator, I believe the best science happens when curiosity meets collaboration. I have spent most of my career sharing the intellectual joy of creating evidence from data, especially in understanding how the natural world works. My favourite parts of my work are helping students and colleagues to wrangle and analyze datasets, mentoring PhD researchers, or helping farmers make data-informed decisions. I love helping people discover that statistics isn’t scary — it’s a powerful lens for understanding our world and making it better.

Let’s build something great together!
